The Description de L'Egypt is a series of publications, appearing in 1809 and continuing until the final volume in 1829. The book offeres a comprehensive scientific description of ancient Egypt as well as its natural history - seen here in these engravings. It is the collaborative work of 160 civilian scholars and scientists who accompanied Napoleon's expedition to Egypt from 1798 to 1801, including 400 engravers who later compiled it into a full work.
